Terms of use
These terms apply to the UPF Tracker app and to this website, both provided by Dead Star Development Ltd ("we"). By using them you agree to these terms. They are deliberately short.
What UPF Tracker is, and is not
UPF Tracker shows you how processed a food product is, using the NOVA classification, alongside its Nutri-Score. It is an information tool. It is not medical, dietary or nutritional advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, dietitian or your own judgement. If you have a medical condition, an allergy or specific dietary needs, check the product packaging and speak to a professional.
Accuracy
Product data comes from Open Food Facts, a public database maintained by volunteers, and from our own catalogue built on it. It can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and manufacturers change recipes. We classify products as carefully as we can, but a NOVA group or Nutri-Score shown in the app is our reading of the available data, not a guarantee. Always check the label.
Your account
You must be 16 or over to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login details safe. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. We may suspend accounts used to abuse the service, for example by sending automated requests or attempting to interfere with other people's data.
Acceptable use
Use the app for its intended purpose. Do not reverse engineer it, scrape the catalogue service, or use it to build a competing dataset. Open Food Facts data itself remains available under its own licence (below), so this restriction is about our service, not the underlying open data.
Open data and attribution
Product data is from Open Food Facts, made available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). NOVA is a classification developed by researchers at the University of São Paulo. Nutri-Score is a scheme developed by Santé publique France. Neither organisation endorses UPF Tracker.
Liability
We provide the app and website as they are. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on information shown in the app, or from the service being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change and material changes will be announced in the app. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
